Raising the Roof: Protecting our Future

February 25, 2020
By Heather Brower

On January 23rd, the St. Matthew community officially kicked off its capital campaign: Raising the Roof--Protecting our Future. The purpose of this fundraising campaign is to pay for new roof for our school/education center, which is desperately needed to ensure the building's functionality and longevity into the future.

The campaign goal is to raise $1.5 million, which will be used for replacement of the current roof, as well as for critical seismic upgrades in the building. More information, details about the plan and ways to give can be found on the campaign Website at

Students Help Raise the Roof!

The St. Matthew Catholic School community is helping to raise the roof with a Lenten service project. The students are undertaking a coin and bottle collection that begins on March 2nd and will continue through April 12th. Each class will collect money, cans and bottles, and the entire school's collection will then be presented at a Sunday Mass. The students' goal is to raise $1,000 to contribute to the capital campaign.

You may help the students by donating coins, bottles and cans. All items can be sent with students to be added to their class donation jar, or contributions can also be delivered to the school office, where school staff members will take items to be returned for deposit. We are encouraging the kids to gather loose change to donate, or do chores around the house to earn coins. Every little bit helps!

Please join the children in their effort to contribute to this vital campaign, and help to better serve one another, our community and Christ.
