Middle School Community Service
Each year, middle school students are asked to serve others as Jesus Christ served His community.
Sixth grade students are asked to volunteer in the spirit of Catholic Christian service for a minimum of three hours every trimester; seventh grade students should serve their family, neighbors, and church for 4 hours each academic period; as the eldest students in the school, eighth grade students are asked to model their Catholic morals and values by volunteering a minimum of 15 hours in service to their community each year.
Service performed is recorded between July 1 and June 1 for each academic year.
Volunteering one's service for the good of others (without compensation) is beneficial to our spiritual growth and the health of our community. Students should use this service to challenge themselves and to grow spiritually. Opportunities to serve can be close to home (ex. babysitting for family/friends, weeding the garden, etc.) and not a chore/job that is already expected of students. Opportunities to serve can be found in/through the church, including altar serving or singing/playing an instrument in the choir on Saturday or Sunday. There are also organizations in the community that could use students' help.
