Middle School Community Service
Each year, middle school students are asked to serve others as Jesus Christ served His community. Sixth grade students are asked to volunteer in the spirit of Catholic Christian service for a minimum of 5 hours; seventh grade students are asked to serve their family, neighbors, and church for 7.5 hours; as the eldest students in the school eighth grade students are asked to model their Catholic morals and values by volunteering a minimum of 10 hours in service to their community.
Service performed can be recorded between July 1 and June 1 for each academic year. Hours are due in full by the first of school on or after this date.
Volunteering one's service for the good of others (without compensation) is beneficial to our spiritual growth and the health of our community. Students should use this service to challenge themselves and to grow spiritually. Opportunities to serve can be close to home (e.g. babysitting for family/friends, weeding the garden, etc.) and not a chore or job that is already expected of students. Opportunities to serve can be found in/through the church including altar serving or singing/playing an instrument in the choir during weekend masses. There are also organizations in the community that could use students help.
